Thomas The Potter
Since he was young, Thomas has been fascinated with mud and creating art from it. He dug mud pits in his garden during rainy days, and his love for sculpture and art persisted through school. Eventually, he went on to specialize in ceramic design at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, graduating in 2001. He set up his first studio in Bangalore before finally relocating to Goa over a decade ago. Today, his studio, Banana Pottery, is based in Corjuem Aldona, and he also sells his creations through the 'Thomas the Potter' gallery and studio in Panjim.
Thomas finds inspiration in the vast and diverse forms of nature, particularly the sea and its creatures. His latest collection features underglaze colors and oxides, fired to 1250 in an oxidation atmosphere, resulting in unique and beautiful pieces.
