Having left her company as a software engineer in 2010, Chitra as she is fondly called had a lot of ground to break to excel in her new found passion of developing natural and skin friendly body and bath products.

‘Invention is the mother of necessity’ and Chitra’s journey as a business woman became an example of just that. As someone who struggles with dry skin herself, she was on a hunt to find alternatives to commercial soaps that were harsh on her skin. Her solution; make soap herself with ingredients that are pure, natural and clean. She took a deep dive into the process and the ingredients involved, even finding substitutes for Western components with easily available Indian ingredients like Coconut oil, Palm oil, Sunflower oil.

An expedition that was initiated for herself soon became a way to help others deal with their skin problems. Janani Naturals, which she founded in 2011 now sells natural, handmade and cruelty-free skincare products. Chitra knows the euphoric feeling of creating something of her own and she knows better that she has struck gold finding work that is her passion. Little did she know that it would all begin with just one bar of soap!
