Jessamijn and Kathy's shared passion for women's empowerment, love of earth and strong belief in ethical and socially responsible business. is what led to the founding of "Eco Femme'', an initiative based in Auroville, that revolutionises menstruation in India. Having to either burn or bury her menstrual waste made Kathy aware of the problematic nature of plastic disposables. Jessamijn had seen her mother stitching cloth pads with rural women... - for both of them the nature of the product presented a beautiful opportunity to connect care for the earth and for our own bodies with a livelihood opportunity for women around Auroville.

The commercial work gives Eco Femme the financial strength to spread awareness and voice issues regarding women's health, menstruation and climate change. What once started as a way to consolidate their passion soon became an expansive space where women and girls come to learn about their bodies and understand their role as climate agents more holistically. 

Eco Femme has a broad catalogue of cloth pads, baby nappies and menstrual cups. They have "eco-sisterhood" initiatives like 'Pad for Pad' that connect consumers and adolescent girls across India, where each purchase helps them be a part of a community with access to healthy menstrual products and menstrual education. 

With the challenge of dealing with sanitary waste becoming more profound than ever, it becomes pertinent to make eco-friendly choices going forward. Eco Femme helps you do that and believes that every single person reserves the right to make that choice - also if you are a 13 year old girl from a small village in India.
